Demolition of the old Central Library in Birmingham began today. Developers are clearing the site as part of a redevelopment of Paradise square, with motorists warned to expect further diversions and road closures.
It was the end of an era yesterday as demolition began on Birmingham's old Central Library. Built more than forty years ago, it's stood unusued since the the new library opened in 2013.
Some of the building's strongest supporters,and its critics, were there to witness the moment the work finally began to tear it down.
