Mother of murdered Daniel Pelka hanged herself

An inquest has heard that the mother of murdered Daniel Pelka hanged herself in prison in Derbyshire.

Magdelena Luczak, 29, was found dead in her prison cell at HMP Foston Hall at 7.15am on Tuesday.

An inquest into her death was opened and adjourned at Derbyshire Coroner's Court on Friday morning. The cause of death was recorded as hanging.

Luczak and her partner Mariusz Krezolek, both originally from Poland, were convicted of murder and sentenced to at least 30 years in jail in August 2013 after blaming each other for the head injury which ultimately caused Daniel's death.
