Two teenagers and baby killed in Derbyshire house fire

Flowers have been left at the scene of a fatal house fire in Derbyshire, in which two teenagers and a baby died.

The grandfather of a 17-year-old girl who died in a flat fire with her baby daughter in Derbyshire has paid tribute to the "loveable children" as he laid flowers at the scene.

Amy Smith and her six-month-old daughter Ruby-Grace Gaunt, died in the blaze at her home in Langley Mill along with family friend Edward Green, also 17.

Three men are being questioned on suspicion of murder.

Fire service provide community support after fatal fire

Firefighters in Derbyshire will be out in the Langley Mill community today reassuring residents and offering safety advice, after a house fire killed two teenagers and a baby on Sunday.

They will be visiting homes on North Street where the fire happened and the surrounding area.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service has issued the following fire safety advice:

  • Have a working smoke alarm on every level of your home
  • Check your smoke alarms regularly
  • Have a planned and practiced escape route that everyone in your home is aware of
