Around 2,000 people witnessed the reburial of his casket in a special reinterment service yesterday.

Upwards of 20,000 people queued for up to four hours between Monday and Wednesday to view the coffin as it lay in repose.

Visiting hours:

  • Fri 27 March 15.00-19.30 last entry 19.00
  • Sat 28 09.30-17.00 last entry 16.30
  • Mon 30 - Wed 1 April 09.30-17.00 last entry 16.30
  • Sat 4 April 09.30-17.00 last entry 16.30
  • Mon 6 April 09.30-17.00 last entry 16.30

King Richard III’s tomb is now a permanent feature in Leicester Cathedral. However, there are still a considerable number of visitors from all over the world in Leicester who we expect will want to take a last opportunity to see it before returning home.

We anticipate a great deal of interest and suggest that people who live locally may find it easier to plan a visit to see the tomb at a slightly later date.
