Six West Mercia police officers have been served with misconduct notices over the way they handled murderer Jamie Reynolds' attack on a teenage girl.

The man who would go on to brutally murder 17-year-old Georgia Williams in 2013 lured a young girl back to his Telford home and tried to strangle her five years earlier. He used the pretence of a photo shoot in an attack that mirrored Georgia’s murder.

The Shropshire Star is reporting that letters have been sent to the officers who dealt with that incident in 2008, summoning them to interview by detectives from Devon and Cornwall Police under Operation Columbia. The investigation will focus on how the force dealt with Jamie Reynolds at the time, when he was cautioned over that first attack.

Now aged 23, Reynolds is serving a full life sentence.
