The white tennis dress made famous in the iconic Tennis Girl poster of the 1970s was sold for £15,000 at an auction in the West Midlands on Saturday.
The white tennis dress made famous in the iconic Tennis Girl poster of the 1970s is going to be auctioned off in the West Midlands next month.
The dress is handmade with lace trim and was made famous in the photograph taken on a Birmingham University tennis court in 1976.
The photograph was taken by the late Martin Elliott and featured his then-girlfriend Fiona Butler from Worcestershire.
The photograph sold more than two million copies worldwide.
The dress, tennis racquet and two posters will go under the hammer at Fieldings Auctioneers in Stourbridge on Wimbledon Ladies' Finals day - Saturday 5th July.
