The Glapton Academy in Clifton said it would be unsafe due to an increase of traffic on the road outside the school.
The announcement has caused mixed reactions from parents, one told ITV News Central it was "crazy."
However Michelle Dyer, a parent governor for the school, said no parents have made an official complaint.
