Foreign Secretary William Hague has been out and about in Newark, Nottinghamshire, today as part of the campaign ahead of next week's by-election.

The by-election was triggered by the resignation of former MP Patrick Mercer amid a cash-for-questions scandal.

Eleven candidates are standing in total, including Mr Mercer's Conservative replacement Robert Jennrick. Others are hoping to overturn the Tories' previous majority of 16,000.
