The company running Oakwood Prison in Wolverhampton, G4S, has confirmed that "an incident" is taking place at the prison, involving three prisoners.
Earlier reports have suggested the prisoners are protesting on the roof of the much-criticised prison.
We can confirm that an incident involving three prisoners is taking place at HMP Oakwood.
The Ministry of Justice has been alerted and our normal contingency plans have been enacted.
