University pays tribute to plane crash victim

Rebecca Newton, who died when the light aircraft she was flying in came down in Leicestershire, has been described today as "promising" and "popular" by her tutor at Brunel University.

The 21-year-old from Gunthorpe in Nottinghamshire had been due to return to university to complete the final year of her BSc Biomedical Sciences degree next month.

Rebecca was bright, vivacious and passionate about her studies. Her career was full of promise and her passion for biological science was apparent in every aspect of her work. She aspired to a career in science and showed a great deal of potential.....

......In class, Rebecca was a pleasure to teach as she was a hardworking and conscientious student.
