A woman from Leicester has had part of her leg severed after a New York taxi mounted the pavement and hit her. Sian Green was taken to hospital in a critical condition and is thought to be having surgery on her other leg.
Witnesses say the cab swerved to avoid a cyclist. They've described using a dog-leash and a belt to help keep Ms Green alive.
