It was the end of April when Mr Saleem was killed as he walked home from evening prayers in the Small Heath area of Birmingham.
The 75-year-old had been stabbed three times in the back.
Late last week officers arrested two men - a 25-year-old and 22-year-old from the Ukraine about the explosions near mosques in Walsall, Tipton and Wolverhampton.
On July 21st a court in London gave counter terrorism officers a further week to hold the two men.
Now the 25-year-old is also being questioned about Mr Saleem's murder - which police are calling a further act of terrorism. Mr Saleem's family have been told of the development.
Karen Griggs reports.
