A major route into Nottingham could be closed for days after a fire at a garage underneath a road bridge last night.
The Abbey Road bridge into Nottingham will be closed for most of the morning after being damaged by a fire at a garage in Lenton.
Structural engineers are assessing the damage caused to the bridge which crosses railway lines to the west of the city centre.
The garage is also located under the bridge, and the fire also caused delays to train services this morning.
Fire crews are currently working with the Police and Network Rail who hope to have the road reopened by lunchtime.
