A maths teacher from Bittlerley, near Ludlow, Shropshire, he lived in the village with his wife. Local councillor and farmer Richard Huffer, 50, said he had known Mr Ellis since he was taught by him there decades ago at a secondary near Ludlow. The man in his 60s was trying to walk across a field in the village of Bitterley when he was swept to his death.
