Man dies after being swept away by floods

Police have confirmed a man in his sixties has died after being swept away by flood water.

They say they received reports just after 10.30 this morning that a man had been seen being swept away by flood water in the stream at Bitterley near Ludlow in Shropshire.

The man is believed to be in his 60s but police won't release his identity until he has been formally identified.

His family has been informed, as has The Coroner for Shropshire.
