In 1977, the Queen and Prince Philip visited the Midlands but got into a spot of bother when their Rolls-Royce broke down. 

Speaking to ITV News Central in 2006, the Duke said: "It's still going to be important to find out the value of public service."

Prince Philip visited the Midlands many times, at the side of the Queen, for celebrations and to show support in darker times.
