Carillion 'wriggled out' of pensions obligations while paying 'handsome pay packets' for bosses

There is further evidence of the failure by officials to halt the Wolverhampton-based firm Carillion from going into liquidation.

The accountancy watchdog is to open an investigation into accountancy giant KPMG over its audits of collapsed construction giant Carillion.

Carillion has been "falling short" of what trustees expected it to contribute to pension schemes since 2008.
