Officers were called at 12.42pm after a box containing the suspect device was found at an address in Danford Close.

There is a 100m cordon in place as a precaution while the contents of the box are being assessed. Specialist bomb disposal officers are on their way to the location.

Residents in roughly a dozen neighbouring properties are being asked to leave their homes as a precaution at this time.

At this stage it is unclear what has been discovered at the address.

EOD specialists will be attending to determine exactly what has been found and ensure it is made safe.

We are working with Dudley Council to find temporary accommodation for those residents in the affected area and we will also be arranging transport for them if required.

We would ask people to avoid the area at this time.
