Unity rallies held across the Midlands after surge in hate crime
Hundreds of people joined rallies across the East Midlands today in a show of unity against hate crime.
It comes after a surge in the number of reports of racial abuse and attacks nationwide following the EU referendum - with the National Police Chiefs Council saying it had seen a 57 per cent rise in the days following the vote.

Vigil for a 'united, tolerant' Leicester
A vigil was held in Leicester to show city is 'united, tolerant and stands together' to face any challenge after Britain voted to leave the European Union.
The Leicester Council of Faiths organised the 'We are Together' vigil at Jubilee Square this afternoon.
Earlier today, a rally was held in Derby to unite against xenophobia.

Rally in Derby to unite against xenophobia
A rally promoting unity against racism and xenophobia is underway in Derby.
Called 'Derby Stands Together', it is taking place outside the Council House, and has been organised and supported by a number of groups including Hope not Hate, Derby 38 Degrees, Derby Unite Community branch and Derby Peoples Assembly.
It's not the first rally to take place in the East Midlands calling for unity after the country voted to leave the European Union. Nottingham and Leicester staged events earlier this week.
A vigil is also taking place at Jubilee Square in Leicester this afternoon, organised by the Council of Faiths, to show the city is united and tolerant.
