Kayleigh Haywood: Jury finds second man guilty of false imprisonment

The jury in the trial of two men accused of falsely imprisoning a 15 year old girl from Leicestershire have found Luke Harlow guilty of false imprisonment.

Kayleigh Haywood's body was found dumped in a field near Ibstock last November.

Yesterday Stephen Beadman who's admitted raping & killing Kayleigh, was also found guilty of false imprisonment.

Today the jury at Nottingham crown court took just over 8 hours to reach the same verdict against Harlow.

Two men have been sentenced to a total of 47 years following the rape, murder and false imprisonment of 15 year old Kayleigh Haywood.

Stephen Beadman, who pleaded guilty to Kayleigh's murder, will spend 35 years in prison. While Luke Harlow, who groomed Kayleigh online, then sexually assaulted and falsely imprisoned her, was sentenced to 12 years.

He was also sentenced for grooming two other young girls online. Kayleigh's family cheered and hugged each other when the sentence was read.

Mrs Justice Cox described what happened to Kayleigh as "every parents worst nightmare" and said whatever the outcome today, nothing could bring her back. She was shown the short film made with the help of Kayleigh's parents to warn other children of the dangers of online grooming. She praised them for their conduct throughout, and their work with Leicestershire police.

Mrs Justice Cox: "Kayleigh was not submissive and tried to fight back. [...] she must have been absolutely terrified."

The family of Kayleigh Haywood have arrived at court ahead of the sentencing of two men following her murder.

29-year-old Stephen Beadman admitted raping and murdering the 15-year-old and was found guilty of false imprisonment.

Luke Harlow, who is 28, admitted grooming and sexual activity and was also found guilty of false imprisonment.

Kayleigh's body was found near Ibstock last November.

The parents of Kayleigh Haywood have today released the following statement after the jury gave a guilty verdict:

We are all heartbroken and devastated, our hearts have been torn apart. We ask ourselves every day, why? Why Kayleigh? Why did this happen to our beautiful daughter?

Today we have got justice for our beautiful daughter. But that doesn’t change anything for us. We have to live with this heartache forever.

The public have been and continue to be a great support and comfort to us, and we want to thank each and every one of you. Thank you.
