Their creation in 2012 was controversial, but a week tomorrow polls will open to elect Police & Crime Commissioners for every police force in the East Midlands.
The role was designed to elect one person to be in charge of holding Chief Constables to account, and setting out how to fight crime. But after Derbyshire recorded the lowest voter turnout in the region first time around, do people really know or care what a PCC is? Chris Halpin has been finding out.
