Body found in river is missing Josh Cotton

Police have confirmed that the body found in the River Trent is that of missing man Josh Cotton.

The 22-year-old was last seen near his narrow boat, The Spirit, moored at Sawley Marina at around 4pm on Friday 11 March.

Josh’s body was discovered at around 1pm on Tuesday 5 April, by officers carrying out searches of the river between Trent Lock and Attenborough Nature Reserve as part of their enquiries into his disappearance.

A post-mortem examination performed today has failed to determine the precise cause of his death and further tests will now be carried out. However, Josh’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

A post mortem examination is due to take place this afternoon on a body found in the River Trent yesterday, Leicestershire Police said.

Formal identification has yet to take place but it is believed to be that of missing Josh Cotton.

The 22-year-old was last seen at Sawley Marina in Long Eaton, Derbyshire on March 11.

The body was found by search teams between Trent Lock and Attenborough Nature Reserve.

Police praise public response as search for missing man enters fourth week

22-year-old Josh Cotton was last seen at Sawley Marina on Friday 11 March, and since then searches have taken place throughout the area to try and find him.

Police say they've received scores of phone calls from the public over the last few weeks in response to their appeals for information.

Josh lives on his narrowboat, The Spirit, at the marina and was last seen at around 4pm on the bank close by.

Specialist officers have conducted eight dives into the marina, canal and River Trent. The helicopter has been out and nearby waterways have been searched using specialist sonar equipment.

Officers will continue to search the banks of the Trent and a further river search is due to be carried out next week.

Leicestershire Police are asking anyone with information about Josh's whereabouts to get in touch.

Search continues for man missing for over a fortnight

Police are continuing their search for Josh Cotton, who has been missing for more than a fortnight.

The 22-year-old, who lives on a narrowboat at Sawley Marina, has not been seen since around 4pm on Friday 11 March and concerns for his welfare continue to grow.

Specialist divers have already searched the Marina, but officers are returning there this weekend.

Josh, who is 5ft 4” tall and of slim build, was last seen wearing black jogging bottoms, dark grey high top trainers and a short brown hooded coat with fur along all of the external seams and above the pockets.
