Lineker: Hill 'gave the game so much in so many ways'

Match of the Day host Gary Lineker has paid tribute to former football and broadcaster Jimmy Hill, who has died aged 87.

"A football man through and through who gave the game so much in so many ways", he tweeted.

Former football player and Coventry City manager and club chairman Jimmy Hill has died aged 87 after a battle with Alzheimer's disease.

The Sky Blues legend and football broadcaster had been fighting the disease for some years.

He oversaw significant changes at City during his time as manager between 1961 and 1967. He went on to be come the club's managing director in 1975 and then eventually club chairman.

A statute in his honour was unveiled at the Ricoh Arena back in 2011, with money for the statue raised by members of the public.
