Kayleigh Haywood disappearance now being treated as murder

Police investigating the disappearance of 15-year-old Kayleigh Haywood say it has now become a murder investigation.

Kayleigh Haywood, from Measham, was last seen at 6pm on Friday 13th November when she was dropped off outside Ibstock Community College, in Central Avenue.

Kayleigh’s mum and dad, Stephanie Haywood and Martin Whitby, described her as a bubbly, loving, caring girl who loves her family.

Vigil held for Kayleigh Haywood in Measham

A vigil has been held at St Laurence's church in Measham for Kayleigh Haywood after police confirmed they discovered a body believed to be the teenager's.

The family of the 15-year-old attended along with members of the local community from Measham and surrounding towns and villages.

Kayleigh's brother Kyle Haywood, 18, broke down as he paid tribute to his sister in front of 200 mourning friends and family members.

He said: "I'd like to thank everyone for coming for my little sister tonight.

"She was taken away from us at a young age, and nothing can bring her back.

"We are all very grateful to everyone that has come.

"I'd just like to say, Kayleigh, I hope you're looking down on us.

"You're in our hearts and in thoughts forever.

"I love you so much. So, so much."

After his tribute, Kyle went over and kissed his mother Stephanie Haywood, before sitting down with his close family in the front row of the 200-seater church.

Ibstock 'in a state of shock' over Kayleigh Haywood's death

A minister at the local baptist church in Ibstock, close to where Kayleigh Haywood went missing, says the local community has been stunned by the teenager's death.

Her body was discovered on farmland near Belton a few miles away from where she was last seen outside Ibstock Community College last week.

Police confirmed in the early hours of this morning that a body was found, but have not revealed exactly where the discovery was made.

Tributes have been paid to the teenager from Measham in Leicestershire who disappeared from Ibstock on Friday.

Meanwhile two men aged 27 and 28 are being questioned by detectives on suspicion of murder.

Purple ribbons have gone on display at Ibstock Baptist Church in Leicestershire in memory of murdered Kayleigh Haywood.

Police confirmed that a body found overnight is that of the missing 15-year-old.

The church says it is open to everyone in the community at this difficult time.

Kayleigh was in Year 11 at Ashby School and purple was her favourite colour.

The church is planning to hold a memorial service at 10:30am this Sunday.

Police say the body found overnight is that of 15-year-old Kayleigh Haywood.

The teenager went missing after being dropped off outside Ibstock Community College in Leicestershire on Friday evening. Men aged 27 and 28 are being held on suspicion of murder.

An online fundraising page has been set up for the family of missing Kayleigh Haywood.

The 15-year-old disappeared on Friday when she was dropped off near Ibstock Community College.

A target of £1000 has been set up by Odessa Bircher from Ibstock.

On the page she said:

I am a mother of 5 i cannot imagine the pain Kayleigh's family are feeling i live in Ibstock and am truly shaken by everything that has happened.

Leicestershire Police are now treating her disappearance as murder and last night a body was found in the search for the missing teenager, but formal identification is yet to take place.
