Five arrested amid angry scenes with police at eviction

Five people remain under arrest after a cancer patient was evicted from his home in Nottingham.

Angry supporters of Tom Crawford clashed with police near his bungalow in Carlton yesterday afternoon when bailiffs moved in.

The 64-year-old has been in a long running dispute with his bank over his endowment mortgage payments.

He believes the terms he took out in 1988 were changed by the now defunct Bradford & Bingley bank without him knowing, leaving his £43,000 in debt.

They said yesterday's repossession followed proper legal procedure, and they had an enforceable possession order for the property.
