It has been four years in the making, troubled by delays and disruption, but Nottingham's £570 million Phase Two tram extension has finally opened.

Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham has become the first hospital in the country to be linked by a tram after the Phase Two extension was officially opened.

It is estimated 1,200 passengers will use the stop daily including staff, patients and visitors.

The service will run every eight minutes for 18 hours a day between 6:00am and midnight.

Nottingham's Phase One tram network opened in March 2004. Over its 11 years in service 99,900,000 journeys have been made.
