A prayer book owned by King Richard III has gone on display at the New Walk Museum in London.

It was with him at the Battle of Bosworth and was placed on his coffin during the reinterment ceremony at the city's cathedral last week.

The book is made from parchment and dates back to 1420, with handwritten prayers added especially for King Richard III. It's also thought that the King wrote the date of his birthday in the book.

King Richard III’s tomb is now a permanent feature in Leicester Cathedral. However, there are still a considerable number of visitors from all over the world in Leicester who we expect will want to take a last opportunity to see it before returning home.

We anticipate a great deal of interest and suggest that people who live locally may find it easier to plan a visit to see the tomb at a slightly later date.

Report: King Richard III reburied at Leicester Cathedral

There has been huge interest in King Richard III ever since his remains were found under a car park in Leicester more than two years ago.

For centuries Richard has been a controversial king. Even now the official website of the British monarchy says he wrongly took the crown from his young nephew who then vanished.

Today members of the Royal Family and a Hollywood A-lister attended a reinterment service for the last English king to die in battle. Callum Watkinson reports on the re-burial of a medieval monarch.
