Wolves legend Sir Jack Hayward's funeral takes place today

Sir Jack Hayward became owner and chairman of Wolverhampton Wanderers in May 1990, when he bought the struggling club for just over £2million.

But his love affair with the Wolves began as a child. Our former sports presenter Bob Hall, who met Sir Jack many times, reflects now on the life of the man who saved the Molineux.

Thousands lined the streets of Wolverhampton to bid their final farewells to Sir Jack Hayward. He passed away three weeks ago while in Florida, aged 91.

He was a multi-millionaire who gave generously to many charities and causes.

But in the Midlands he's remembered for ploughing more than £70million of his own money into Wolverhampton Wanderers - saving it from extinction and taking it back to the top flight of English football.
