Crash witness: bungalow owner hurt in dive for cover

Chris Wright was one of the first on the scene after a plane crashed into a bungalow in Lincolnshire, injuring three people this afternoon.

The 73-year-old pilot was airlifted to hospital in Nottingham with a leg injury. Mr Wright said a tanker driver delivering oil to the house, and the homeowner, both suffered cuts and bruises as they dived for cover with the plane headed straight towards them.

Police have confirmed the 73-year-old pilot of a plane which crashed into a bungalow in Lincolnshire has suffered a leg injury.

The plane came down on the home in Castle Bytham south of Lincolnshire at 2.08pm this afternoon. The pilot, who's from Thurnby in Leicestershire, was airlifted to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.

The first picture has emerged showing a plane which crashed into a bungalow in Lincolnshire.

It came down at 2.08pm at Castle Bytham south of Lincoln.

The 73-year-old pilot, who is from Leicestershire, was airlifted to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two other men, were hurt but not seriously. Police say the scene has now been made safe and work to recover the plane is underway.

Lincolnshire Police has confirmed a total of three people were hurt when a small plane crashed into a bungalow in Lincolnshire this afternoon.

The 73-year-old pilot was airlifted to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham with non life-threatening injuries after his plane came down in Castle Bytham south of Grantham.

Lincolnshire Police have confirmed two other men were injuried but not seriously. They say fire crews have now made the scene safe, and recover work can now begin.

The pilot whose plane crashed into a bungalow in Lincolnshire is a 73-year-old man from Leicestershire.

The crash happened at Castle Bytham south of Grantham shortly after 2.00pm. The 73-year-old was airlifted to the Queens Medical Centre by the Nottingham Air Ambulance.

He has a leg injury and other cuts and bruises but his condition is not thought to be life-threatening. He was freed from the wreckage by the Fire and Rescue Service.

A 52-year-old tanker driver who was making a delivery nearby has been taken to a local hospital (not sure which one) and is believed to have sustained minor cuts and bruises along with shock.

The 61-year-old occupant of the bungalow was with the tanker driver but was not injured.

The bungalow did not suffer major structural damage. The emergency services remain at the scene ensuring that the wreckage and fuel from the plane are made safe.

Early reports suggest a pilot whose plane crashed into a bungalow on a farm in Lincolnshire has escaped with non-life-threatening injuries.

The plane came down shortly after 2.00pm this afternoon at Castle Bytham south of Grantham. It's not thought anyone else has been injured in the incident.

A small plane has crashed into a bungalow in Lincolnshire. The light aircraft came down shortly after 2.00pm and hit the building on a farm near Castle Bytham, just south of Grantham.

The air ambulance was called to the scenes and the emergency services are still in attendance with road closures in place.

Police say early information suggests that there was only the pilot on board the aircraft and he does not have life-threatening injuries.
