Leicestershire Trading Standards have found bottles on toxic vodka on sale in the area.
Here are some signs you might be buying dangerous alcohol:
- The word “bottled” is mis-spelt as “botteled.”
- The letters “G.C.B.W” should be embossed in the base.
- The word drink in the Drinkaware website reference is spelled D-rink.
- There should be a lot code etched on to the bottle approximately 10mm up from the base similar to Lx/xxx/xx and a time.
Warning over toxic vodka
Trading standards in Leicestershire are concerned about toxic vodka which they believe is being sold locally.
David Bull, head of trading standards, said: “A number of bottles have now been seized for testing and investigations are continuing to identify those responsible for making and selling this dangerous product."
It comes after a complaint was made about a fake brand of Glen's which tasted 'like nail-polish remover.'
Tests showed it contained high levels of a toxic substance which can make people unwell.
