Trouble free B'ham Pride

Police have reported a trouble free Birmingham Pride party over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The annual Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender festival was celebrated by almost 50,000 people.

Up to one hundred thousand people are expected in Birmingham this weekend for the Pride Festival.

Now in it's 17th year, the UK's largest gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender event started with a carnvival parade to Hurst Street where Boyband JLS will headline a show this evening.

The festival continues tomorrow. Gay marraige campaigner Peter Tatchell led the procession in Victoria Square.

JLS will be on stage in Birmingham later today for one of the UK's biggest Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) festivals, despite the announcement by the group last month they are splitting up.

Birmingham Pride kicks off at 12:00 noon with the Carnival Parade.

Alongside JLS, Bananarama, Lucy Spraggan, Paloma Faith, Misha B and Rylan Clark will be performing at the festival.

'Equal love' will be celebrated in Birmingham this weekend as one of the UK's biggest Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) festivals returns.

This year's Carnival Parade begins at 12:00 noon from Victoria Square.

The parade includes around 20 floats and a number of colourful walking groups. Before arriving in The Village in Hurst Street, it will go through New Street, High Street, Carrs Lane, Moor Street Queensway and Smallbrook Queensway.

Last year's Birmingham Pride celebrated Britain's diversity and the Diamond Jubilee.
