Wollaton Hall AKA Wayne Manor celebrates its role in Batman film

Just over a year ago, ITV Central revealed that a Hollywood blockbuster was being filmed right here in the Midlands. Within hours, the news that scenes for the new Batman film would be shot at a Tudor mansion in Nottingham had spread around the world.

"The Dark Knight Rises", which has just gone on general release, is expected to bring a flood of visitors to Wollaton Hall. Today, it staged the first in a series of Batman-themed events, and our correspondent Peter Bearne was there.

Morgan Freeman says he was the brains of Batman in The Dark Knight Rises

Last night the new Batman film The Dark Knight Rises opened across the UK, with a Nottingham mansion making its big screen debut.

Hollywood legend Morgan Freeman said in an interview with ITV, he and his co-star agreed he was the brains of batman in this film whereas Michael Caine was the soul.

The film is the fourth batman film with several scenes for the eagerly-awaited movie shot at Wollaton Hall in Nottingham, a 16th century country house and one of the city's most popular visitor attractions.
