JCB has won a new contract with a nationwide equipment rental firm, in a deal worth more than £27 million.

Eight-hundred machines have been bought by equipment hire company A-Plant.

The latest deal comes on the back of 550 machines ordered by A-Plant last year. It means the company has now bought 7,500 machines in a trading relationship with JCB stretching back 25 years.

Staffordshire-based JCB has announced plans to recruit 350 new agency employees at seven of its UK factories to meet rising global demand for its products.

In the Midlands, positions will be available at JCB’s World HQ in Rocester, JCB Earthmovers in Cheadle, CB Cab Systems in Rugeley and JCB Power Systems in Derbyshire.

The jobs include welders, machinists, paint sprayers, fabricators, assemblers and forklift truck drivers.

JCB has won a big order - for a thousand mini diggers from a hire firm which will rent them out here and in the United States.

150 people have been taken on at the factory where they're being made.
