Woman arrested on suspicion of murder after Christmas Day death in Cannock

A woman has been arrested after the death of a man at a house in Staffordshire.

Police were called around 3:25am today (Christmas Day) to Elm Road in Norton Canes, after a report of a man in his thirties in cardiac arrest.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services at the scene, the man passed away a short while later.

His next of kin have been informed and are now being supported by specially-trained officers.

A 33-year-old woman from Cannock has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in custody.

The investigation is expected to remain for a number of days.

A post mortem is scheduled to take place on Boxing Day morning.

Staffordshire Police say local residents will see an increased presence of neighbourhood officers in the area, as they provide reassurance and help to gather evidence.
