A two-year-old boy has died in a suspected hit-and-run in Smethwick, which has left two others in a serious condition in hospital.

Four adults and the child were taken to hospital after the crash which happened in Dartmouth Road just before 11pm on December 14.

The toddler died from his injuries. Meanwhile a woman aged 29 and a 30-year-old man remain in a serious condition, while another man and woman aged 30 are described as stable.

Police are still trying to trace the driver of a stolen Porsche who they say fled the scene after being involved in the crash.

Police believe the Porsche was travelling from the island in Kenrick Way before it hit the Toyota.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our thoughts remain with the family of the little boy at this extremely difficult time.

“I would urge the driver of the Porsche to do the right thing and come and talk to us. They made the wrong decision to run away and I’m asking them now to make the right one.

"I also want to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn’t already spoken to us, or has CCTV or dash-cam footage to get in touch."

Police want to hear from any witnesses or anyone with information about the crash to contact them, quoting log 4421 14 December.
