Staffordshire Police appeal for witnesses after teenage girl dies in car crash in Uttoxeter

Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl died in a car crash in Staffordshire.

Emergency services were called to Ashbourne Road in Uttoxeter, where two cars had collided yesterday afternoon (12th August).A passenger in one of the cars, a teenage girl, was found with what Staffordshire Police have described as 'serious injuries'. The force has since confirmed the girl died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with leg injuries, while the driver of the other car was also taken to hospital having suffered suspected injuries to the abdomen and knees.Investigators are appealing for anyone with information - or who has dashcam footage - to get in touch. The incident took place on the B5030 - which runs between Rocester and Uttoxeter - at 2.45pm.

Along with the police, West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene, and a stretch of the road was shut off as emergency services carried out their work.A spokeswoman for the force said: "We are appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl died in a collision in Uttoxeter this afternoon (August 12)."At 2.45pm, we were called to Ashbourne Road (the B5030) after two cars collided."Officers went to the scene with paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service and colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service. The road was closed for a number of hours whilst emergency services worked at the scene."A passenger of one of the cars, a teenage girl, was found with serious injuries. Sadly, she died at the scene. The driver of the same car was taken to hospital with leg injuries."The driver of the other car was taken to hospital with abdominal and knee injuries."An investigation into the collision is now underway. The spokeswoman added: "We are keen to speak to anyone with any dashcam footage from the area at the time or those with any information which could help collision investigators."
