More than 30 firefighters tackling blaze at Dudley factory as people told 'close windows'

More than 30 firefighters are tackling a blaze at a factory unit in Dudley with members of the public being urged to close their windows and doors due to smoke.

Peartree Lane has been closed from the island on the Dudley Southern Bypass to Narrowboat Way.

Six fire crews are currently at the scene.

West Midlands Fire Service said it was called to the blaze at 1.20pm today, Tuesday, 6 June.

Members of the public have been told to close their windows and doors due to the area being affected by smoke.Peartree Lane is the road that runs from Cinder Bank Island to Pedmore Road in the Netherton area of the borough, featuring mostly industrial units along its route.

In a statement on Twitter, West Midlands Fire Service said: "We're tackling a factory unit fire on Peartree Lane in Dudley."Six fire crews are in attendance. Please keep doors and windows shut if you're in the area affected by smoke."It is not clear how the fire started.
