Pensioner found dead in Measham house as 26-year-old arrested in murder probe

A pensioner has been found dead at a house in the village of Measham in Leicestershire which has prompted police to launch a murder investigation.

A 26-year-old man from Measham was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Police were called by East Midlands Ambulance Service to the house in Hart Drive just before 5pm yesterday (1 December).

Detectives are still present at the scene as they continue to investigate what happened and they're urging anyone in the area with information to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Nicole Main, from East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: “Our investigation remains at an early stage while we continue to piece together the full circumstances surrounding this man’s death."

“While our officers will be conducting local enquiries with neighbours, I would be keen to hear from anyone living locally who may have seen or heard a disturbance at the address yesterday afternoon which may be connected to this incident.

“Any information you have could be extremely important to our inquiry so please get in touch.”
