Roller skating doctor, 89, completes challenge to help hungry children
An 89-year-old man who has been roller skating 90 laps of his courtyard before his 90th birthday has completed the challenge.
Dr John Wilcock, from Warwick, was inspired by Captain Sir Tom Moore and Marcus Rashford's campaign for free school meals.
He originally wanted to raise £500, but has so far managed over £43,000.
He wanted to raise money for a charity that feeds hungry children as he knew what it was like to go hungry as a child.
He has achieved his goal two months early.
Dr John Wilcock said: "I'm relieved and glad. I wasn't looking forward to skating in the winter.
"When I got into the courtyard I knew it was cobbled and rough, but I didn't know it sloped."
He adds: "Going up the hill was a bit heaval and the skates and trolley ran away with me going down the hill.
"To begin with I honestly thought I wasn't going to be able to finish. I thought I'd bitten off more than I could chew."
