Spiking by injection: Extra police patrolling Nottingham's nightlife to help keep women safe
Extra police officers will be on patrol in Nottingham this weekend, to help ensure women can have a safe and enjoyable night out following a rise in reports of spiking by injection.
Revellers will notice a larger uniformed police presence on the city streets and outside venues tonight and tomorrow.
Over the past few weeks reports have emerged of horrifying accounts from women who say they have been pierced by a needle in their legs, hands and back, waking up with the bruises but no memory.
Police are encouraging women who think they may have been spiked to report it and warning those on nights out this weekend to be prepared to be searched.

This week, Nottinghamshire Police said they were investigating a total of 15 separate incidents of young women and men being spiked with "something sharp" in less than a month.
Two men, an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old were arrested this week on suspicion of conspiracy to administer poison with intent to injure, annoy or aggrieve - as part of an ongoing investigation into administering spikings by injection in Nottingham.
They have now been released under investigation.
