Parents terrified after two-year-old daughter almost abducted from Nottingham park

Parents have said they are concerned about the safety of their local park in Stapleford after their two-year-old daughter was almost abducted.

The attempted abduction happened at the Queen Elizabeth Park in Toton Lane in Nottingham on September 22 at around 4.45pm.

Kymberley Stanton-Croft was out walking with her twins Dara and Eliza and a friend.

While Ms Stanton-Croft was momentarily distracted by her daughter Dara running towards a group of boys playing football, she noticed a woman walking off holding Eliza's hand.

Her friend rushed over, reached her hands out to Eliza and as the toddler came towards her, the woman disappeared.

Ms Stanton-Croft and her partner John are now campaigning for CCTV cameras to be installed at the park.

A primary school next door to the park, Fairfield Spencer Academy, has also sent out letters warning parents about what has happened.

A local Councillor said he's looking into additional safety measures for the area

Councillor Richard MacRae said he is going to speak to the chair of Community Safety to see about installing security cameras at the park.

Nottinghamshire Police are carrying out extensive inquiries and have said it has increased high visibility reassurance patrols in the park since the incident was reported.

It is urging anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have information to get in touch with Nottinghamshire Police by calling 101 and quoting incident 548 of 23 September 2021.
