'If we find you, we will kill you': The Taliban threat to the mother of a Leamington family
An Afghan family living in Leamington Spa are fighting to get their mother out of Afghanistan, after the Taliban told her "if we find you - we will kill you".
It has been a month since the last evacuation flight left Kabul airport, following the Taliban's rapid rise to power. But some who hoped to escape to safety and be granted safe passage to the UK, have been left behind - including the mother of 36-year-old Shabnam Nishat.
Her mum was a United Nations politician in Kabul - it's believed she's being targeted by the terrorist group, because of her work to promote women's equality in the country.
Shabnam has lived with her husband Rostam and four children in Leamington Spa for 15 years.
She contacted Warwick & Leamington MP Matt Western for help, before the August 31st deadline - when western troops were forced to leave Afghanistan and halt the evacuations.
Mr Western said he is helping 25 families in his constituency, including Shabnam's, to get relatives trapped in Afghanistan to safety.
But the government hasn't yet responded with how it can help.
The Foreign Office said it had evacuated more than 15,000 people, including 4,600 British nationals.
The Foreign Office can't comment on individual cases but in a statement said: "The UK and international partners are all committed to ensuring that our citizens, nationals and residents, employees, Afghans who have worked with us and those who are at risk can continue to travel freely to destinations outside Afghanistan."
"We have been clear that the Taliban must allow safe passage for those who want to leave."
Shabnam is pleading with the UK government to provide assistance in getting her mum to safety.
But as it stands - she has not idea when she will see her mum again.
