Watch the moment that a nurse, who was critically ill with Coronavirus, returns to work
A nurse who was critically ill with coronavirus has opened up about her battle with the illness as she returns to work on the frontline.Donalyn Araneta's colleagues captured the heartwarming moment she stepped back through the doors of Walsall Manor Hospital.Staff and patients lined up along the ward and applauded and cheered the nurse, who survived the deadly virus.The mum-of-two was critically ill and spent ten days in her own hospital after she caught the killer bug.
Mrs Araneta, 50, said,
"I fell ill on March 24, whilst preparing to go on my night shift and all of a sudden I felt cold and clammy. I collapsed in the toilet, fortunately my family was around at the time. My husband was able to assist me and checked on me, I had a temperature of 38.7°C and my blood pressure was low."
Mrs Araneta said: "I came back to work after weeks of recuperation physically and psychologically. When I came round the corner, the greetings and applauds from my manager and co-workers was really amazing. It really gave me a sense of worth and I felt supported and appreciated."I am looking forward to doing my duty as a registered nurse again tohelp those who are sick and in need of care."
