British superbike rider Ben Godfrey dies in crash at Donington
British Superbike Championship rider Ben Godfrey has died after a crash at Donington Park race track.
Mr Godfrey, 25, fell from his bike after a crash with another rider during the No Limits Trackdays event at the Leicestershire circuit yesterday - 21st June.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The rider of the other bike, a 31-year-old man, was taken to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham with serious injuries.
Mr Godfrey rode for Team BGR and was set to compete in the Ducati TriOptions Cup this year at Silverstone.
He had previously raced in both the Superstock series and Endurance racing.
British Superbike rider Glenn Irwin paid tribute to his fellow racer on Facebook, writing: "Rest in peace Ben Godfrey. Gone way too soon. My thoughts are with his family, friends and team."
Leicestershire Police said: "We were called at 11.20am today to a report of a collision at Donington Park.
