Ravers leave woodland covered in rubbish after illegal party

Ravers have left a woodland near Lichfield covered with rubbish, alcoholic cans and bottles of nitrous oxide after an illegal party.

Around 500 people joined in an illegal rave at the site, off Brookhay Lane, at Whittington on Saturday (June 13).

Police said the massive bash - believed to have been organised on social media - was shut down following a 999 call reporting dozens of people at the site.

Partygoers were said to have turned violent and an officer was attacked after being asked to leave.

Another person was also detained on suspicion of drug-driving.

Cars which were left at the roadside were towed away by officers on this morning (June 14) for causing an obstruction.
