Lighting up the night sky - showers, thunder and lightning

Last night (June 13), the skies across the region lit up after spells of lightning, thunder and rain.

In some places the rain lashed against people windows, while others hear the loud bangs of thunder.

Parts of the night sky lit up with sparks of lightning.

Across Cannock in Staffordshire, people were able to capture the electricity in the area as it turned the sky pink.

A bolt of lightning pierced through the sky above the library in Birmingham city centre.

Over in Alrewas in Lichfield, there was a mixture of grey and pink skies.

Showers and lightning came down over the homes of residents in the area.

The area of Wednesbury saw similar scene those in neighbouring areas.

Lines of electricity were spotted shooting through the sky.
