A firefighter was racially abused by a group of men in Derbyshire.

The firefighter from Staveley Fire Station was racially abused on Saturday (30 May) at the corner of Walton Back Lane and Yew Tree Drive in Somersall, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue reports.

The crew of firefighters were on their way back to the station following a grass fire in Ashover when they stopped to fill the fire engine at a water hydrant.

A white Vauxhall Corsa then slowed down and the group of men inside shouted racial abuse at a firefighter.
