EasyJet will resume flights at Birmingham Airport from June 15.

The airline has announced that the initial schedule will involve mainly domestic flying in the UK and France.

Other routes will be added "over the coming weeks" as demand is increased and coronavirus lockdown measures are relaxed, EasyJet said.

The company will also resume flights across other UK airports, with the only international route from the UK being between Gatwick and Nice in France.

Passengers and crew will also be required to wear masks in airports and on aircraft as part of new safety and hygiene measures.

Food will no longer be sold on flights and there will be enhanced cleaning of planes.

Disinfection wipes and hand sanitiser will also be available for passengers to use, the operator added.

Other airlines have also announced plans to resume flights, with Ryanair planning to restore 40% of its flights from July 1, and British Airways due to make a "meaningful return" in terms of services available in July.
