Closed cafe delivers hot meal to elderly widower every day during lockdown
Thoughtful cafe owners in Burton-On-Trent have been delivering a hot meal to an elderly customer every day during lockdown, despite being closed.
The Teapot Cafe, in Market Place, were forced to close for lockdown, like the majority of other restaurants, bars and cafes across the UK.
But owners Arran Warren and his wife Sophia Agrelo-Warren felt they couldn't see their elderly customer Bernard Lawes go without a hot meal, so they went in each day to cook for him.
Before lockdown, Mr Lawes visited the cafe a couple of times week.
Mr Warren said: "When we shut down, he walked past the cafe and Iasked him what he was going to do."
"He said he was just going to get sandwiches from Tesco and I said I'dcook him a meal and take it round to him."
The couple took over the cafe in January from Mrs Agrelo-Warren'sfather, Modesto, who had run it for many years.
It reopened last week for deliveries and collection only.
