Chihuahua with 'horrific' eye injury found on Leicester road

A chihuahua found with a severe eye injury in Leicester has been rescued by the RSPCA.

The chihuahua was wearing a large collar which had the name 'Tia' on it when she was found by a member of the public on Hinckley Road by the junction of Golf Course Lane, in Braunstone Frith.

RSPCA Inspector Richard Durant said that she was found in a "bad way" and that "her left eye was horrific".

After examination by a vet her injured eye has now been removed and she is recovering at one of RSPCA's animal centres.

The charity has released the figures as part of its emergency appeal, launched to keep its rescue teams out on the road during the Coronavirus crisis and continuing to rescue animals most in need
